The Team

Left to Right: Jason Martin, Lewis Jenkins, Jason Mahoney, David Roder

Jason Martin
Enterprise Gateway

Since March 2005 Jason has been running the South Kent Enterprise Gateway, helping people on Romney Marsh and in Folkestone to start up their own businesses. His 15 years as a marketeer, business development manager and business owner have given him the tools to give practical and useful help to anyone wanting to work for themselves.

Inspired by his clients, Jason has set himself a number of annual challenges of the past years to raise money for a variety of charities. Following last year’s half marathon challenge Jason has teamed up with David, Lewis and Jason to take part in a much bigger and much more demanding challange “for the fun, for the experience and to raise money for an amazing charity”. He hopes the team can finish the race within 10 hours and can raise over £2,500.

Lewis has been working with web sites for around six years now. In 2001, he was studying music at university and didn’t even have a computer. How times change.

These days, he oversees all of our web projects and keeps the servers running. He also supports Chelsea and, occasionally, still plays the guitar.

Jason Mahoney
Leisure Centre

A degree in Sport and Exercise Science and a job as a Leisure Centre Manager might suggest that fitness should be high on my agenda. However, preaching and practicing are two different things! Even a stint of veterans football (where the effort of half-an-hour of chugging around was offset against a few hours in the pub immediately afterwards) had come to an end and a descent into rotund middle-age appeared to be beckoning.

I therefore greeted the invitation to take part in this challenge with excitement and a fair amount of trepidation. Having given up the fags some 18 months ago, I’m hoping that this event might provide me with the focus to get as fit as I’ve ever been – especially with my fortieth birthday looming on the horizon. Early morning training is my greatest fear, but I’m working on excuses to avoid this too often – All for one and one for bed!

David Roder
Red Carrot - www.redcarrot.co.uk

As a self confessed exercise and diet phobe, I decided it really was time I joined the gym and tried to loose some weight, next thing I know I’ve been signed up by my (former) friends to take part in one of the greatest challenges a sportsman can undertake!

So now my life has been transformed from evenings of beer and curry’s to early morning training sessions and weekend bike rides in preparation for the challenge of my life! Having already lost a stone and greatly increased my fitness level, I am now well on my way to achieving the ultimate challenge!
